My work is inspired by the natural world and by my spiritual relationship with it. In my search for ways to express meaning and felt connection, alongside the immediate visual image, I have been influenced by the mystical landscapes of Samuel Palmer and Paul Nash. I also explore mythological themes in my figurative work and draw on the thinking of Jung, and the concepts and the graphic qualities of artists such as Gertrude Hermes and Meinrad Craighead.

My oil landscapes are often large in scale and semi-abstract, and are executed in richly-coloured and blended oilbar, with a final surface enlivened by deliberate line work, and I am at present experimenting with mixed media. I also produce small-scale pictures in water-colour, gouache and acrylic.

Sometimes an idea seems to work better in print, and I especially enjoy working with collographs and lino prints.
